Belt Fashion celebrates 50 years of craftsmanship in leather belts and accessories

Belt Fashion, part of the HVEG Accessories Group, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. From its production facility in Eindhoven, the company has spent five decades specialising in the development and production of leather belts and accessories for fashion retailers across Europe.

How it all started

In 1976, Belt Fashion started with a simple idea: create belts that are not only functional, but crafted with care, skill, and attention to detail. From the very beginning, the factory operated with machines that were specially developed for the company and remain unique in the industry today. This allowed Belt Fashion to produce at scale while maintaining consistent quality.

Over the years, a dedicated team has worked side by side, building deep expertise in the craft of belt making. Decades of experience, precision, and pride in the work have shaped every belt that leaves the factory. Behind each product is a story of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the people who make it possible.

Today, Belt Fashion celebrates 50 years of craftsmanship, knowledge, and dedication. What began as a specialised belt factory has grown into a trusted manufacturing partner for fashion brands across Europe and beyond.

From sketch to finished belt

Every Belt Fashion belt begins with an idea. The process starts with a design sketch that defines the shape, function, and character of the belt. From there, the search for the right materials begins. Leathers and buckles are sourced from established European suppliers, selected for durability, quality, and appearance.

Once the design is finalised, production moves to the factory floor. Here, experienced craftsmen measure, cut, and shape the leather with precision. Buckles are fitted, edges are finished, and every component is assembled with care.

By the time a belt leaves the factory, it represents far more than a simple accessory. It reflects the combined knowledge, experience, and craftsmanship of the people who made it.

Five decades of belt design

Since the 1970s, belt styles have continuously evolved alongside fashion trends.

  • In the 1970s, Belt Fashion began with wide belts, suede materials, and strong western influences. These early designs still inspire collections today.
  • The 1980s introduced bold statement belts, often featuring large buckles, studs, and decorative details.
  • During the 1990s, fashion shifted towards minimalism. Belt Fashion responded with cleaner designs, smaller belts, and neutral colours.
  • In the early 2000s, statement belts made a comeback, often worn lower on the hips rather than at the waist.

In recent years, many classic influences have returned, including suede belts, western styles, braided belts, and clean, minimalist designs.

Expanding into leather accessories

In 2014, Belt Fashion expanded its capabilities beyond belts. Using leftover leather from belt production, the company began developing additional leather accessories, including keychains, dog leashes, plant hangers, aprons, and card holders. This expansion allowed the company to make better use of materials while broadening its product offering.

A focus on responsible production

Responsible production has been part of Belt Fashion’s approach from the start. Materials are selected carefully, production processes are monitored closely, and industry standards are continuously followed.

Over the years, the company has actively tracked developments in leather certifications related to product quality, safety, and environmental standards. These certifications help ensure that Belt Fashion products meet the expectations of customers and partners across the industry.

Looking ahead

Fifty years after the first belts left the factory, Belt Fashion continues to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern production capabilities. The passion for making well-crafted belts remains unchanged — and continues to shape the next chapter of the company.
